Hari Raya replacement holidays 14/15 Sept 2010 - 28Aug n 18Sept

As the head, I decided that we at SK Yong Peng would make a big sacrifice this year by not taking up the above as UPSR falls on 21-23 Sept, immediately after the Raya holidays which coincides with the semester break as well. It is the first time it has happened and I personally feel we should heed the PPD's advice, that UPSR only happens once in the life of the child but Raya comes without fail annually and will be celebrated without fail, so it is with the pupils' interest that we forego the long break, come back on 14 Sept and get on with our unfinished task.  Once it is over, after 23 Sept we can still continue the celebration as Raya is celebrated for a month and there is still ample time left to rejoice.  Making this small sacrifice would make a distinct difference this year when the results are out, so let's cross our fingers and pray for the best ever results for UPSR this year.

Pre Upsr Blues 2

Yes, 28 days more to UPSR. We have decided not to opt for 14th and 15th September holidays in order to extend the Raya holidays. As our PPD said yesterday at Mesyuarat MPZ, Raya is celebrated annually but UPSR is once for the Year 6 pupils so we need to sacrifice to make up for better days ahead. I announced this to the Year 6 pupils and they nodded in unison. For the dream to work, I stressed that we need to work together as a team in order to create another historical feat this year and encouraged them to study hard tp bring their beloved school to greater heights. What a dream, I thought to myself, even more jittery than them who are going to take the exam. May God give us strength and bless us in the days ahead.
