Ucapan Guru Besar SK Yong Peng

In 2009, SK Yong Peng was awarded the Academic Excellence  for Grade A SK schools for UPSR.  It scored the highest  percentage (22.2) in academic performance for the district. 12 pupils scored straight As (ie 5As for SK schools) out of 54 pupils sitting for the UPSR examination. It was a historical first for the school in Yong Peng and Batu Pahat District. Wow, we did it beating all the premier schools in the district. It was a dream come true as a result of staff teamwork and commitment at school.
Despite a slight drop in overall performance (77.8%) from 82.93% in 2008,  we were overwhelmed we did it in spite of limited infrastructural facilities and financial constraints as SK Yong Peng was a missionary school and to date is still partially assisted by the government unlike other national primary schools which are fully funded..
Instead we have to depend on funds from the school board, Lembaga Pengelola Sekolah, Parent Teacher's Association or PIBG, and annual financial allocations  from our YB Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong,the Deputy Education Minister and the MP for Ayer Hitam who officiates our yearly PTA function.
A zillion thanks to YB for his assistance in getting us funds from Stimulus Package 1 and 2 in 2009 amounting to RM360,000.00 which saw our dream come true in the form of an open hall and a double-storey building comprising 4 classes in 2010, a reward for our academic performance in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
To me, nothing is impossible with hardwork, dedication and team spirit. In short, SK Yong Peng did it with a team of teachers and support group who persevere in the face of adversity. Yes, we can and we aspire to bring the school to greater heights in the near future.
Transformation comes with team effort, perseverence,commitment and putting aside whatever our differences to make a distinct difference in rural Yong Peng and urban Batu Pahat.  Our school embraces the 1Malaysia concept envisioned by our beloved Prime Minister. To date, we have an enrolmen of 80 percent Malays and 20 non-Malays. In spite of our rural location, we managed to ovvercome all odds to become a star performer. In short, the dream works when the team works.
